 END FROM FAR BEYONDFrom the Depths of Chinese Black metal cult comes one and only – Be Persecuted. Autistic and depressed, deep and eerie…about their recent release and about Chinese black metal, the mainman Zhao have spoken. Enjoy the interview.
‘’End Leaving’’ is your 2nd album, tell us something about it, is it true that Zhao was responsible for all musical creation and lyrical depression on album? All music by Autism, and all lyrics by Zhao. When you started with creating of this album, did you wrote lyrics first and then music or reverse? We were wrote music first then lyrics. You guys are from China, is it hard to play metal in China, I mean because of all the strict rules that your country treated in the past…also, is it true that less than 200 metal bands exist in China? Now have been more than 20000 metal bands exist in China. Also the styles are many. Many of metal bands have an impact of themselves creative motivations and way of life not only since of government control. Also, what’s situation with metal concerts, have you played live anywhere? We have been performed, but not too much. Mostly of the audience to saw the performance since the metal band’s known, and have been some crazy POGO and cry into there. Current we’re preparing a Tour in China. Are black metal bands got problems with local authorities? Concert bands, album release censoring? Current mostly of the black metal band want to issued through a number of underground labels only. They will very difficulty to pass the official censoring to come into the market. If want to do more large-scale performances are also difficulty to censoring. Have any European or American, or even Japanese black metal bands played in China so far? I never to saw foreign to Chinese black metal bands performed. How’s the situation with recording studios and record labels in China? High cost of recording studio and record labels want to be able to make money of the band only. ‘’End Leaving’’ is soaked in depressive black metal but it seems that you incorporated some avantguarde elements as well? At some point, I get the feeling by some arrangements, like I’m listening to Cult of Luna…what you can say? Listen to each person’s feeling not the same as it. Actually we don’t deliberate to incorporated some elements. How would like to how to do. How do you feel about booklet lay out? I get some difficulties to read all text inside, were there any problems during the printing of booklet…? All booklet layout designs by Autism. We’re very satisfied. Booklet inside the words of consciousness stream a little more. And many words in the expression of both Chinese and English there are differences. This should be read is to give reasons for the difficulties. Are you satisfied with treatment in No Colours Records? Besides them, were there any other labels that have offering you record deal? Have been some other labels contact with us, but we refused. Because NO Colours is a great record label and more important Steffen was a good friend. Where do you get inspiration for all your lyrics and music? Our inspirations comes from own living environment are some of the things to happened. Why did you choose to play depressive black metal? We don’t deliberate to choose to play depressive black metal to expressions of ourselves. Maybe we just would like to play black metal. Did you ever think how would look like if you were incorporated some native folk elements inside your blackish music? Are there such bands in China, that mix native music with black metal? Have thought about before, but we must according as requisite of musical creation first then deciding how to do inside our music. Many bands have been incorporated some native folk elements inside them music in China. I heard some time ago, that many people thought that Zhao is woman, what you can say about that? Ahh, maybe they’re love Zhao so much, but I’m really a man, hope love to me forever. Zhao and Tan have bands beside membership in Be Persecuted, how do they managed to handle with all the bands? What’s going on with Dopamine, Heresy and Explosicum? Is Be Persecuted your main prior? There are needs to go where. Dopamine is currently in preparation for new album of release, but BP is the most important for me. What kind of music you like to listen in personal? For me, absolutely black metal and some Chinese new folk music, grindcore and so on. What plans you got for this album? The most want to “End Leaving” can be to early release LP edition. And China Tour to be perfect. Do you know or, have you heard any metal band from Serbia? Sorry, I never to heard, but I hope to know.
