SATAN'S STORM
DEAD TO THIS WORLD is a new band from Iscariah - once a band member of Immortal. Alongside with Iscariah there are few other members in the band coming from various already known acts from Norwegian extreme metal scene. Iscariah & co. have released one full-length '' First Strike for Spiritual Renewance'' so far and they have just released ''Sacrifice'' EP with 5 tracks. Those lovers of Norwegian black metal should definitely check out this band.
Please for the beginning for the interview could you present Dead to the World to out readers? How and why did you actually get this idea to form the band?
It started in 2002 after I left Immortal that I wanted to do my own band again. Prior to Immortal I had a band from 1991 till 1999 were I wrote all the music, so it was a natural call back to this. I enjoyed my time in Immortal but I had a urge to write my own stuff also. Dead to this World plays fierce and untamed metal from the darkest pits of hell.
Each member of the band is or was also involved in many other bands as well. So, please could you say is it sometimes hard to keep the recording and rehearsals with the band members?
Iscariah: No not at all. If the band has set plans, then that has priority. It is not like any other bands have higher priority for any of the members. Don’t forget both Thurzur and Skyggen are only live session members for Taake and Gorgoroth and not full time members of those bands. If Dead to this World has dates set, then the other bands must cancel. It is the only way.
Your members are actually coming from many popular bands in the Norway. For instance from Immortal and Gorgoroth. The band surely has received some feedback because of this.
Well judging by the record-sales, I would say not so much. We try to keep those bands off the promotion as much as we can, but of course labels and gig organizers will use this. We want to build and stand on our own feet. We are much better than those bands anyway.

Could you say us something about your debut full-length ''First Strike for Spiritual Renewance''? It has received indeed positive feedback!
The debut was recorded in 2007 by myself and session member Kvitrafn from Wardruna. It was released by a label called Dark Essence from Norway but they failed to be able to push the release so it ended up selling little albums. However, Century Media released it in the US and it sold a lot! The feedback from press and fans was really really good but I wish certain things from the labels side was done different in Europe. However, it might be re-released properly during the end of 2012 on a different label on time with our second full length!
Also, you have just released your newest material. It's ''Sacrifice'' EP. It will be welcome if you could give us any info about it?
Yes this release sees Dead to this World with a stabile full lineup which has now been for 2 years. It contains 5 songs which we recorded and produced ourselves and I think it came out really strong. The feedback has been good as well. Since it was a mini-album we took the liberty to experiment abit further than maybe we would on a full length, but hey that’s what minis are for. It has amazing artwork by Adam Zaars from Repugnant / Tribulation and is out now through Soulseller on digipack cd and 180 gram vinyl with poster.
Aside of this two releases you also did one split and demo in the past. Could you say something about those two releases as well?
Well after I did the “Demo 2005” I was picked up by Costa of Iron Pegasus Records and he released it through his label as a 7”EP called “Dominions of Death” in 2006. It contains the demo tracks from the demo and artwork from my friend Chris Moyen. Also we did a split 7”EP with Norwegian thrashers Audiopain through Hearse Records from Italy. They are now sold out by the labels, but maybe a few distros still carry it. They were released only in 500 copies each.
Do you plan in the near future to promote your releases by some concerts?
Iscariah: First now we are going to Italy in February for 2 concerts and then we are in talks with some festival organizers but nothing is sure yet. We will also play in Norway in November with our brothers in Morbosidad. If anyone wants us for Serbian gigs we are ready!!!!
Soulseller has just released your latest material So, it seems that you have found a suitable record company for the promotion for the band.
Yes we are really happy with Jorn and Soulseller. He is a totally dedicated metalhead and really works hard for his releases. We will also release our next full length through them towards end of 2012. Thanks for this interview!!
