RAGE IN A CAGE

Iron Fate is yet another new and fresh name on the metal scene. I was very surprised when I had the chance to check out their new album since the sound and the production are greatly done. Also, the quality of the songs is on the top level. I was looking forward to do one interview with Iron fate and to start the promotion of their debut full-length. Below you’re going to find some useful interesting and information about the band.
Hello! ''Cast in Iron'' is your debut full-length so how are you feeling these days since the album was just recently released through Massacre Records? You must be indeed euphoric.
Denis: Hi. We feel great and it is of course awesome to find the own creation in stores and magazines. Jan: We are very proud of this album and especially because it could be published by Massacre Records. We are more than enthusiastic.

Iron Fate is a really fresh band on the present metal scene. So, it’s indeed more than welcome if you could write some words about the band and your biography for the beginning of the interview. So far, I noticed that you have published only one demo before the debut issue.
Jan: We are Iron Fate from the Kaiserstadt Goslar. We started in 2005. The (hi)story of the band is told quickly: We are all metalfans who find there idols in traditional heavy metal. That was also the genre we wanted to play. The band is: Denis Brosowski at the front, Harms Wendler and Martin Pflugmacher as guitarists, Sascha Wendler as drummer and myself at the bass. Denis: Yes, we recorded a “4 track demo” in 2006/2007.

You have recorded only one demo, but already you have signed for your first effort to one huge label Massacre Records. I can give you only my compliments for this! How did it happened? You must be very proud. Who has financed your recording session for the debut album, you or the label?
Denis: We applied at Massacre. We did not send a demo, though, we only sent the finished production, which we recorded in the Pure Sonic Studios before. When we got the offer from Massacre, we didn't have to think about it for very long. *laughs *

Your music has definitely some influences from the so called true Heavy Metal bands (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest), but yet your debut ''Cast in Iron'' reminds me very on Primal Fear.
Jan: Thank you! That is of course also a compliment. A lot of people compare us to Priest and Maiden. I think it wasn't different with Primal Fear, which is from the better known bands in Germany the one that sounds most like Judas Priest. Denis: Allthough, if something sounds like Primal Fear in our songs, then that is probably in the earlier songs. The last records didnt't really convince me.

Iron Fate
The production is really awesome! Since ''Cast in Iron'' is your debut this is even more important. Where did you record the album and who was the producer?
Denis: We recorded at “Pure Sonic” in Langelsheim under the direction of Jost Schlüter. A very capable man. It was very funny to work with him. He by the way also produced for the thrash metal-combo HEADSHOT. The songs have been written before and recorded at the studio. Jost is a real perfectionist who tries to get 120% even if there are already a 100% given. And I think that is something you can hear in the endresult. Jan: Yes, that was a period full of experiences for all of us.

How would you label your style of playing? Surely it’s 100% pure metal stuff, but yet it could suit more for some promotional effects. There's no doubt that there are some Power and even Thrash Metal mixed with good old-styled traditional metal.
Jan: A lot of influences had their effect on our music. We wanted to combine what we like most in metal ourselves and I think we managed quite well. Denis: And if I had to label the style myself now... I would call it … PURE TRADITIONAL HEAVY WITH THE HEAD FORWARD THROUGH THE WINDOW THRASH 2K10 METAL!!!! *laughs *

The opening track ''Iron Fate'' (obviously named after the band name) is one of the best songs on the entire record, but yet there are some other titles too which have some quality to offer. So, which are the best or the most important songs of Iron Fate that present the band in the full light?
Denis: Well, our opinions about that are very different, but we did agree on this song for the opening. I think, it represents us very well! Jan: It could also have been “Resurrection”, my personal favourite. It moves quickly and straight forward, which is also what the band Iron Fate wants to do.*grin *

Could we also expect some live shows in the nearest future when it comes to Iron Fate? Do you have any plans for a proper tour that is going to promote your new issue? If you can chose with which bands you would like to tour with?
Jan: We try hard to show some life presence too. It probably won't be a tour because we are all having a job, but we will be on stage on weekends and show that traditional heavy metal isn't to be put with old metal yet. Denis: Oh, if we could really choose, I would actually like to play along with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept or Sanctuary. *grin *

The cover artwork for the debut release was surly very effectively done. Who has done it? Also, what you can say us about the lyrics on the album?
Denis: The frontcover was designed by the very talented artist Timo Wuerz, who also designed artworks for Amon Amarth, Doro or Sacred Steel. He managed to fulfill all our ideas and expectations. Jan: About the lyrics: Some are for example based on something personal and others simply go with the metal-”clischée”. The Song “Painful Sorrow” is very personal and private, while “Iron Fate” would rather be put in the “clischée” drawer.

Since this is the first time that we have an opportunity to do one interview I wish you all the best in your career and I hope that I'll be in a chance to do many interviews with you! Any closing words for the end of the interview?
Denis: Thank you very much! It was a lot of fun. And I also hope, that we will answer a lot of your questions in the future too. Rock on! Auf Wiedersehen!!!!
