BRACE FOR IMPACT
Love.Might.Kill is yet another newcomer coming from the pool of Massacre Records. But, although that one could add the question about the band's name believe me their music is indeed heavy and hard, with many parallels to Power Metal. Their debut issue ''Brace for Impact'' definitely has something to offer if you are lover of melodic metal music!
Hello there! Please, could you for the very beginning of the interview add few words about the band and present Love.Might.Kill. to our readers?
I started LMK a few years ago when I decided to work on some demo-tracks that couldn’t be used by all the other bands I’m playing with because they didn’t fit into these bands styles. But I knew these tunes were too good to stay on my computer so I’ve recorded them. I immediately knew that this could be the beginning of a cool band - my own band since years. With Jan Manenti from Italy I found a very good singer, who knows how to create real good melodies. Along with ex-Crossroads-guitarists Stefan Ellerhorst and Christian Stöver and Jogi Sweers on bass the line-up was completed. We’ve recently played some shows and we were joined by Sascha Onnen (ex-Mob Rules) on keyboards.
As a matter of fact you have just released your debut opus ''Brace for Impact'' so tell us something about your first record.
This album represents 100% of that kind of music that we like. We didn’t care if our music is "in" or if the people like what we are doing. We didn’t had any expectations regarding the sales or the critics. If you’re relaxed and you stay down to earth you won’t be disappointed if you don’t sell a lot of records and no one cares about your music. Nowadays there are a lot of bands around in the whole world. It’s impossible for the fans to know and discover each and every new band - no matter how good these bands are! So, if we’re able to do a second record in the near future we’re more than happy ;-)

''Brace for Impact'' has various influences from Hard Rock to melodic Power Metal. I even find some Whitesnake moments as well. So, how would you like to describe your music?
M.E.: In my opinion "Brace for impact" combines really good vocal-melodies with heavy-guitars and groovy -power-drumming. A lot of people recognized that bands like f.e. Whitesnake, Dio, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest or Accept influenced the sound of "LMK". These people are absolutely right. I have no problems if they hear these influences in our songs. I grew up with all the bands and they are still my favorites, so I see it as a compliment!
There is an evident difference between each song. Some tracks are fluffier but others are harder and stronger. Any comments about it?
That´s absolutely right! But in my opinion all these tracks are not too different from each other. I think we´ve done an album that offers a good mixture of heaviness and melody. Even the faster tracks like f.e. "Calm before the storm" feature catchy melodies without losing their heaviness.
With which bands you would like to compare the music of Love.Might.Kill? As I added there are some elements from Whitesnake but also there are some moments from various Power
and Melodic Metal bands. Somehow you remind me on your Greek colleagues FireWind...
As I said before we’ve been influenced by all the eighties heavy-rock or heavy-metal-bands that I’ve mentioned. I think that bands like f.e. Firewind are also inspired by these kind of bands. These bands wrote tons of metal- classics, so how can you not be influenced by them, hahaha
Tell us now something about the album itself. Where did you record it, who was the producer and who has done the cover artwork?
All the instruments and some of the backing vocals were recorded in my own studio while the main vocals were recorded in Italy. I produced the album as I was responsible for the songwriting, the recordings and all the things that deal with the band. As this was my very first production that I did on my own I was really excited about all the things. Now I’m happy everything went well, hahaha. My friend Markus Teske, who worked with bands like f.e. Saga, Spock’s Beard and Vanden Plas did the mix and the mastering. He did an amazing job! Nikolas Fritz did the artwork and he also did a fantastic job! I’m really happy that I have all these very, very talented people around!
Any ideas about possible live shows? Since you are still fresh band on the scene do you have any offers for the tours?
We recently played a few shows. It was great and we can’t wait to hit the stage again as soon as possible! At the moment we’re working on possible live-shows in November. I hope that will happen!!! There are also plans for a possible support-tour in spring next year. But I can’t tell any details yet as this is not confirmed yet.
How about the first reviews that you have already chance to check out? Are you satisfied by the promotion of the album so far and the response from the journalists?
The reviews are absolutely fantastic! We got tons of very, very good reviews from all around the world. We never expected that. We also get mails from fans from all around the world. That shows that there are still people who like the style that we are playing, even if we are not a modern-style-metalband.
