Architects Of Perfection

Six Reason to Kill are yet one more band on Massacre Records which is performing some kind of metal core influences music. I am not going to be boring with a long interlude. ''Architects Of Perfection'' is their latest piece of work, its actually indeed good record and if you want more to learn about this particular act them just read this interview below!
Hi there! How are you doing? Your latest record has just come out on Massacre Records. What can you tell us about ''Architects Of Perfection''? How would you like to present your newer piece of work from your own point of view?  “Architects of Perfection” is probably the most brutal album on the one hand, the most multilayered album on the other in the history of the band. There is a lot of passion in it. It pools all those forces in a way we never reached before. Kristian ”Kohle” Kohlmannslehner was the one who helped us to produce this piece of music. Kurt Ebelhäuser also contributed his voice for the song „My Poison“ – probably the most surprising song on this album.

Can you compare ''Architects Of Perfection'' with your previous full-lengths? What are the parallels and what are the differences when it comes to your latest material and your previous 3 albums? I think the result is a bit more back to the roots but it also continues the development of the band within the last albums. While the last two albums showed our way to a more melodic Metal sound, the new material is more Death Metal but also more diverse. We did a brave step to experiment with things. This opened the way to some new ideas. At least the electronic sounds or a song like My Poison is the consequence of this work. How would you like to label your music? I mean, you have obviously several influences in your music...I guess that the easiest way is to characterize your sound as some kind of Death Metal with some Metal Core influences as well...

Right! I think your characterization fits very well. At least, it something somewhere between Death Metal with some Hardcore-influences and some relaxed sounds. As a musician I don’t really care about what kind of label we are producing. But I also know that it is important that someone can locate your music somewhere. So the term Metalcore is maybe the right one for our music because it integrates both our Metal and our Hardcore-Influences.

Each track on ''Architects Of Perfection'' is a tale for itself. There are obviously some differences between the songs and also there are many breaks inside every track. Was it hard to compose and record an album with so many breaks? You easily just jump from aggressive to calmer and more atmospheric moments. We attempted to get a high amount of variation on each album. This time the result turned out a bit more rich in variety than ever before. The idea of having more variety in the music leads to these differences. Each song should have a moment of surprise for our listeners. The music should be thrilling and interesting. But in my opinion it is quite differently on this album. There are both songs with a lot of breaks and there are some quite simple songs like My Bitterness.

Obviously you are using the keyboards in your music. So, how did you end with this particular idea to use keyboards in your music since they are giving such a psychedelic approach inside your tracks? We are working with keyboard-sounds since Reborn, our second album. So the idea of including some electronic stuff into our sound is nothing new. This time we asked Emil of Yesterday I Had Roadkill to add some electronics because he is a really creative and innovative guy. I like this psychedelic stuff in the sound. It’s another element that makes our music diverse and variable.

I can see a link between your cover artwork and your music. The atmosphere is somehow very brutal but yet atmospheric. So, what did you try to express with the cover artwork for ''Architects Of Perfection''? This is a nice idea of what the artwork tries to tell you, haha. The artwork as well as the title of the album refers to the matter of fact that we are all architects of perfection. Societies have some ideas what is perfection. We have to deal with cultural ideals that are today shaped predominantly by the media. It’s also an ironic fact that everybody has its own ideals. So who says what is perfection? And why? Capitalizing and cultivating perfection is also a kind of decadence. This is what the artwork symbolizes. Everybody is caught in this vicious circle and everybody has to be an architect of perfection. But to be honest: Perfection is a superlative. So the artwork is a critical hint to the whole callomania that surrounds us.

Are there any new plans when it comes to live performances? I guess that you are indeed active when it comes to live performing here and there. We are working on some ideas for our live performance. We have selected some new material from “Architects of Perfection” for our live set. Furthermore we are working on some cover songs that break up our usual live set. So you can expect some new ideas this year. Concerning a tour we are currently talking to some agencies. At the moments it looks like that we are going to tour Europe in May. And if everything fits well we’ll play another tour in the second half of 2011. And of course there will be shows on some festivals in summer and a whole bunch of single shows in the next month. We’re going to play live as much as possible this year. To keep up to date with that join us on  HYPERLINK "http://www.facebook.com/sixreasonstokill" \t "_blank" www.facebook.com/sixreasonstokill.

You are yet one more band that has signed a contact with Massacre Records which has some influences from Metal Core scene. It seems that now Massacre records is interested also in this sort of Metal. How did you get the contact with Massacre Records? Leif Jensen, a good friend of us and Artist Relation for Century Media Records told Massacre about our album and they became interested in what we are doing. So we sent them a copy of our latest recordings. We signed a deal and… everything else is history, hehe. We all know Massacre Records since the days of our youth. I am a great fan of bands like Atrocity or Totenmond. So for me it’s a great feeling to sign a deal with such an established and relevant label.

And the final question is about the name of the band ''Six Reasons to Kill''. I mean, it has become more than a cliché for all bands that have this core vibe to name their band with longer names So, how did you end up with this particular name? The name doesn’t mean that we appeal to kill someone. So there is no reason to concern. It just sounds very good and has a lot of vowels in it. You can memorize this name. And while reading this name you know: This is Metal, not Pop-Music. But there is no political or social idea in the name. It just sounds good and hard. That’s it!
