WACKEN OPEN AIR 2012

WACKEN OPEN AIR is definitely the biggest and the best festival when it comes to heavy metal music. It's indeed more than great to watch so many metal heads gathered at one single place. The place for the festival ground is placed in the northern part of Germany so rain or sun are very regular things during the days of Wacken. Be it rain or shine the band that Wacken gather each year are the most effective and prominent ones when it comes to metal or even rock music. So, all in all, if you are a proper metal head Wacken is the perfect place to join in.

At 2012 Wacken will gather various bands some of those bands are more important and popular and some less but yet it will be great atmosphere. Wacken 201 was more oriented to power and heavy metal but this year the things are different. Many of black metal bands will play out there as Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth, and you can expect also some bands like Paradise Lost an Opeth. Of course, headliners like Scorpions will be there as well and lovers of power and heavy stuff will enjoy in such a groups as Gamma Ray or Hammerfall.

The festival is coming closer and many of you are already arranging their travel to the W:O:A. The count of information and possibilities regarding the travel adds up every year, so we decided to rework all topics and to focus them at one new portal with new features. This new “W:O:A travel portal” gives you all the information about traveling by bus, train, plane or automobile. Also the arrival on site with the topics festival area, parking, kiss & ride, camping and hotels is handled here. (A detailed list of facts can be found below) The Special Feature: By entering your hometown into the search box of the integrated route planner you will get a list with all travel options like for example: Points of departure of our travel partners next to your hometown (regardless of whether bus or train) as well as links to our partner companies including their ticket reservations. That applies also companies from foreign countries - Everything at a glance!!! Certainly it all works like a normal route planner which calculates the route by car. The added satellite map (google.maps) gives you a geographical overview about nearby offered bus or train trips like the Metal Train or Metal Travel. One click at one of the marked towns or places leads you to a list of bus and train companies which offer a ride to the festival. All listed options will also contain the calculated CO² emissions of the travel to the festival for the respective vehicle. In addition the detailed view of the map shows you the camping sites, parking spaces, kiss & ride places, the festival area with all important infrastructural facilities like shower camps, supermarkets, garbage bases and also all main features on site. Also a long-range selection of hotels in and around Wacken and several external campsites are listed here. Camping ground Reservation As mentioned before we will provide the group reservations again in this year but in a limited scale. All groups which took part in the reservation in the last year got new login data via mail. New groups can’t sign up at the moment! The groups have time until the 20th of May 2012, to fill out the form or to edit the values. No additional changes of parameters like persons, cars or tents are possible afterwards, so they have to be already correct at this date. We will check randomly chosen camps on site for this! After this time window, we will calculate the needed place. If too much space would be needed, we sadly have to cancel the sign-up of some camps, so we have to draw them by lots. So a sign-in at the form isn’t meaning a save reserved ground! On the other hand, we will open the sign up for new groups if we have space left after the time windows expired. We will keep you informed about this of-course! As mentioned before we will provide the group reservations again in this year but in a limited scale.
