CHILDREN OF BODOM + ENISFERUM + MACHINAE SUPREMACYPetofi, Budapest, Hungary - 22.04.2011Children of Bodom, Enisferum, Machinae SupremacyWell, as usual, we arrived at Budapest just few hours before the start of the show and due to obligations we missed Machinae Supremacy. I wasn't able to be on the same place in the same time since I was doing the interview with Janne from COB. But, nonetheless, as soon as we have finished our interview we entered the big concert venue, possible of the biggest when it comes to shows in Budapest. We arrived just on time to see as the people starting to gather in huge numbers and to witness the opening song on Enisferum's show. And they did one indeed nice performance playing only 8 tracks but it was fantastic. Since I have the opportunity to see them 4 times during one year I think that this was probably their best performance for some time. Their sound was really full and powerful and the stage performance was a fine one. Among the 8 titles they played almost every hit song from various albums so the crowd went crazy when they noticed the opening tunes of ''Iron'', but ''From Afar'' and ''Twilight Tavern'' were also among the successful ones. I was lucky to be there. There was already a solid crowd gathered on Ensiferum's performance. I remember well some girls dancing here and there, some were screaming on the apprentice of the band members, while Viking-looking guys were raising their horns. Such atmosphere, such passion :) no doubt, they are masters of their art! After the pagans has gone, then there was a silence for some time and then the masters and headlines came taking the stage so pompous so bombastic. Since I have opportunity to seen them already live I was, more or less, more concentrate on the show, on the stage apprentice, even on the reaction of the public, their expressions and passion. COB started with some newer tracks, probably promoting the new album. Since I wasn't so into their later records I was more concentrate on the everything around, the sound, the light and similar things. In the beginning some people reacting with the passion, especially the young ladies, but, yet the rest was, more or less, silent waiting for some real old stuff. And just on the half of the show Mr.Alexi has finally noticed that the things should be changed and he screamed ''are you ready for some old COB'' and yes we were indeed ready. So, the songs started to enlist from such a legendary effort as ''HateBreeder'' and ''Follow the Reaper'' and there were few from'' Hate Crew'' as well. The eruption of hidden emotions was instant and intensive. Everyone started to move and bang their heads. COB performance was indeed professionally done, maybe even to professional. There was not so much passion when it comes to band members...it was easily noticeable that they were tired and they were indeed tired from the huge touring and still they have some shows ahead of them, but they deliver one great and professional concert above everything. So, everything was correct from their side, everything was on its own place... I noticed also that this big venue was, more or less, full. Probably some 3 000 or even more people gathered to see COB and their supporters. It was a nice evening after all and it was a pleasure to see so many metal heads all around! Marko Miranović |
