GODS OF DEATH
CIANIDE
Hells Headbangers CD
Here we have the new album from one of the longest standing troops in Death Metal field – yes, Cianide are on the scene all the way from 1988 terrorizing it with their outbursts of pure ancient mayhem but they were never on some hip label, done some cool tours or stuff like that so they are sadly not that familiar to the majority of metalheads. But those in the know are fully aware of Cianide so this name is revered in underground circles and “Gods of death” won’t change their status one iota – people who dig them before will continue to do so and hopefully some little scribles like this one will inspire some young Death Metallers to join the ride and see what they have been missing out. So as I have already noted, “Gods of death” is your standard old school DM affair: Hellhammer painted guitar sound drives the songs from the beginning to the end of an album and if I have to make some comparisons I would certainly throw the Hellhammer card in speedier sections while some doom crushes can evoke even Incantation (you know those serpentine sections). Cianide certainly employs variety of tempos on “Gods of death” so you will be slammed with fast blasts and hammering doom both but the key point is simplicity as Cianide never tend to complicate, nor the arrangements or the riffs, no – always caveman primitive and efficient are they. Even the song titles like “Dead and rotting” or “The one true death” can paint you the picture that Cianide wants you to see: simple barbaric Death Metal storm! Everything here just reeks of old days when Death Metal was not the speed technicality fest but instead the song and feeling were the only laws, so if you are into Hellhammer, Autopsy, Asphyx, Bolt Thrower... you know the drill, make sure to check out this album and finally discover these old heroes of underground. Cianide still marches on regardless of what anybody would think about their craft.
