ADASTRA - The Last Sunset

THE LAST SUNSET

ADASTRA

Violent Journey Records CD

Adastra are power metal band from the town of Helsinki, not to be confused with the band of the same name from the UK. ‘’The Last Sunset’’ is their debut realized through the nine songs played in old school power metal manner, with no orchestrations or philosophy in form. In their music, you can find the influences of Grave Digger and Iron Maiden, mainly in color of the sound, as vocals have more personal look. Material is fair, decent and interesting. Songs are rather fast than slow, with easy to remember riffs and refrains. So, if you need injection of good old power metal, with ‘’fighting’’ and ‘’justice for all’’ lyrics, buy the cd. Production is positioned in old school manner also, and at moments, I feel like I listen to some old and forgotten band from eighties, than new and fresh act. All of the songs on the album are cool, catchy, easy going with sing-a-long refrains and choruses. Artwork is fine, nicely painted with no use of computer effects, which is praiseworthy for today’s way of cover painting. Full support for this guys, very promising and talented bunch!
