DAMNATIONGAIA EPICUSEpicus Records CD-DAMNATION By participation from names such as Roland Grapow, Dominique Leurquin, Michael Troy...this turned out to be very interesting, colorful and overall quality album. Besides guest appearances from many musicians, main name under the wheal of Gaia Epicus is Thomas chr.Hansen. Except the Mixing by Dali Sternisa and phenomenal artwork which was created by H.P Fournier, Thomas has conducted all on this album, lyrics, music, production, logo, booklet design, recording, everything. Gaia Epicus is power metal oriented and ’’Damnation’’ is the forth album for this band/project...whatever you want to call it. As i said above, album sounds interesting, there are many cool melodies, very nice vocal works (reminding me a little bit on Luca Cappellari (ex-Drakkar)), strong riffs... With the help of guest musicians, album sounds somewhere between Italian and German school of power metal, so, let’s say, very fast, melodic, flying, heavy, hymn based, dynamic and melodic. Also, comparing this album to their previous works, it seems that ’’Damnation’’ is most prominent and most intrigant. Lyrical concept flows between epic and SF thematics, and by reading them, listener can create very paint full images about things that band wanted to express. Generally, if you like bands like Scanner, Gamma Ray, Rhapsody, Drakkar, Narnia, Iron Savior... this guys are something you shouldn’t miss. Favorites from the album: ’’Damnation’’ , ’’Cyborgs from Hell’’, ’’ The Wizard’s Return’’ and ’’Salvation is Here’’. Play it loud, and bang your head! Vladimir Petković (8) |
