CALIE COX
Self-released CD
Youngman Calie Cox is unique and very talented multinstrumentalist, which know how to make a excellent album bounding both musical influences from ‘80’s and ‘90’s but nowdays also. Calie have brilliantly handled all the vocals, lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars, synths and bass lines, while some of his friends have participated with drums, guitars, mandolins, basses, synths…Also, talking about this album, I must say that I haven’t been so stand in a long time, until I heard this record. It’s amazing how this album conquers the listener with every listening and spinning of the album. Tracks are simply fantastic. Album have excellent balance between fast paced and dynamic songs and those of sentimental kind. As composer, Calie is very technically skilled and mature, and his ideas, original approach and quality in creating and playing can’t miss none of those that seeks for talented and potent musicians. Calie vocals are also very good, and his voice tone is somewhere between Terry Glaze (ex-Pantera), Joey Tempest (Europe), Michael Howe (ex-Metal Churche) and in traces – Bruce Dickinson. Lyrics that covers themes like love, friendship, every day life, personal issues are also spotlight of the album. There’s so many emotions and honesty in lyrics, that every soul can find it’s spot or feel in it. From 13 tracks on the record, I would extract numbers like ‘’Sinners of the Flesh’’, ‘’Mo Mod Stepz’’, ‘’Getting into Ourselves’’, ‘’The Morning After’’, ‘’Midnight’s Dreaming’’, ‘’Could it Be’’ and ‘’Sing For Tommorow’’ as most prominent, but with no doubt, complete album is masterpiece, and one of the most surprising and original/promising newcomers at the end of 2008. and beginning of 2009. Breathtaking!
