NOVEMBRINE WALTZ
NOVEMBRE
Peaceville CD
One more re-issue from Peaceville, but this time the album was taken from Century Media. “Novembrine Waltz”, the 4th full-length from Novembre was actually released in 2001 and probably is their best effort so far. It came after the album “Classica” that surely took band on higher level, both musically and spiritually. Nevertheless, “Novembrine Waltz” has much quality to offer, from great song-structure to amazing melodies. Whole album is written in some kind of mid-tempo and it’s like a long lullaby (relaxing tunes and fine atmosphere). Melodies are very nice, dreamy or should I even say god-like. Just check out track “Cloudbusting”, Kate Bush cover (with lead female vocals Ann Mari from The 3rd and the Mortal) and you’ll surely feel like you’re lost in Eden. Although the guitar is dominant instrument, here and there one could recognize keyboards which are sometimes even taking the main role. Songs develop from slow, emotional pieces to fast double-bass parts, but never to be really fast, in the sense of term-fast. Vocals are very successful combination of growls and male clean singing. Growls appear as some kind of emotional culmination while cleans are more focus on slower moments. “Novembrine Waltz” is one serious work and it was also blessed by excellent production. Re-issue comes in a nice package so the choice is obvious: come and get this release!
