BLOOD REVELATIONS
VETUS OBSCURUM
Debemur Morti EP
As the promo material informs me, Vetus Obscurum was incepted way back in 1997. by Numinas who further went on to form Krohm and put Vetus Obscurum to ice up to now; the man felt that he could not squeeze all his ideas in Krohm so he joined forces with Death (Drawn and Quartered) and Nihilist (Abazagorath) to be born again in blasphemy. „Blood Revelations“ is an EP with lenght around 25 minutes and guys waste no time here and present you what the stand for up to the point. And that is Black Metal of the raw kind with all the main postulates of the genre checked – filthy production, nihilistic vibe, second to none melodies... You know the drill. But it would be unfair not to mention the impending Death Metal apocalyptic vibe (surely coming from Numinas’ and Death’ involvement in godly Drawn and Quartered), that fact is mostly obvious in opening track „Vetus Obscurum“ with deathish riffs and doomy crescendo, sounding like, for example, old Incantation decided to play Black Metal. This ingredient just adds the venom to already putrid style of playing on display here, so we got one very pestilent material here – truly the vibe is just right! As I have said, the production is raw but not to the point of "tr00“ wannabe garbage, the sound has the proper amount of filth surely required for this kind of stuff. This EP shows a lot of promise, so it would surely be a pity if the band goes under the radar again; but if I am informed well the guys are already recording full length so we will se how Vetus Obscurum will develop...
