BLOOD OF THE DRAGONNOX ARCANAwww.MonolithGraphics.com CDCD ’Blood of the Dragon’ is more focused and based upon some dark yet epic themes mainly connected with Conan-like world or if you like more on Sword & Sorcery adventures. From the cover artwork and booklet, that was perfectly done by Joseph Vargo, one can obviously see that this story is dealing now with some more battle-like tunes mixed with very bombastic orchestrations. In a less then a minute you are going to be taken by the music of Nox Arcana and you will enter in a world full of mighty warriors, dreadful-looking dragons, sinister orcs and other dark creatures that are lurking from the dark branches of the trees. Once again the sound was based upon keyboards and samples, but this time there are also minstrel songs with some fine-chanting vocals. This has made this record even more dream-like. Also, the orchestrations this time are more epic yet, in the same time, monumental then ever before when it comes to Nox Arcana’s soundscape. The fantastic atmosphere and music created by this duo will take you on the journey through the forgotten kingdoms full of wizards, mages, barbarian warriors and eerie forces that are dwelling in the shadows of the unknown world. For those metal-heads around I would like just to mention that ’Blood of the Dragon’ could be clearly compared to several Bal-sagoth’s instrumentals. Just take only the keyboards from Sagoth’s music and the feeling will be almost the same. Recommended! Marko Miranović (8.5) |
