GRIMM TALESNOX ARCANAMonolith Graphics CD''Grimm Tales'' is one of the finest records that I have so far a chance to heard from ambient/symphonic duo Nox Arcana. This particular issue is indeed one grim and eerie material full of nightmarish atmosphere and mystic-like moments. As a matter of fact, ''Grimm Tales'' is the haunted soundtrack for the realms that lie beyond your imagination. This time, our two hosts, Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski, are guarding the forgotten kingdom of goblins, elves, sylvan spirits and other mysterious creatures that are harboring the realms beyond. Those two talented composers and charismatic persons are going once more to allow you to enter the misty forest and enchanted domains of dark fairly tales and your most precious childhood nightmares. And indeed, music-wise ''Grimm Tales'' has so much to offer! The music is composed by keyboards and, here and there, those two great composers have fantastically added some more bombastic and dramatic samples with a kind of choral-like singing and chantings. This particular moments gives special aura to whole record. You are going to feel as you are really entering the deep woods of some forlorn and fairly tale land. More or less, ''Grimm Tales'' is more peaceful material with slow but yet very magnetic melodies. But, on the other hand, few tracks are more virtuous one with some bombastic pieces and epic tunes as well. Also, there are few titles with dream-like piano passages. Many songs have some really creepy samples of voices in the background. The visual aspect of this band is very important. Just like other Nox Arcana's efforts, also this fantasy-romantic opus has original and nicely done dover artwork. 12-page booklet is yet again little masterpiece of drawing s of its own. ''Grimm Tales'' offers somehow a strange fantasy-like atmosphere which is a mixture between creepy sounds, dreamy piano passages, ghost-like moments and few epic themes. And once again Nox Arcana has succeeded to perfectly catch and cover yet one more legendary theme. So, just close your eyes and dream a thousand dreams of Night Wraiths and Black Spirits that are awating for you in Crone's Cavern. Marko Miranović (10) |
