TENEBRAE IN PERPETUUM/KROHM

Debemur Morti CD

In 2010, under the watchful eye of Debemur Morti Productions, two bands, Tenebrae In Perpetuum and Krohm, have unleashed a split CD containing a sextet of sinister black metal compositions (three per each band). While both artists are indeed of Italian ancestry, we should note that Tenebrae In Perpetuum is based in Italy while Krohm hails across the Atlantic (the Unites States). Tenebrae In Perpetuum plays a very dark, cold black metal, in the vein of old school black metal bands, and does a pretty decent job. The band prefers a slower tempo, coupled with atmospheric parts where haunting keyboards etch a very chilly feeling into your mind (fans of Evilfeast might see some distant resemblance). The vocal is closer to a scream than to that typical black metal shriek; devoted followers of Sargeist and Aaskereia will know what I’m talking about. Unlike its Italian counterpart, Krohm is less prone to atmospheric use of keyboards. Even so, the music is bleak, cold, melodic and slow-paced (for the most part). We’re talking about a band that also supports the 90’s black metal – something that can be easily deduced from the type of music it plays and the way it's played. The vocal blends with the guitars and drums, becoming almost like another instrument.
In the end, to add, Krohm is a one man band – all the instruments and vocals are done by its founder Numinas (better known as the former member of Evoken).
