MASTER OF ILLUSION
POWER QUEST
Napalm Records CD
After 3 full-length albums and seven years of existence, British/Brasilian/Italian Power Quest quintet released their long awaited fourth album. If you haven’t listened to this band before, they play typical 2000. style of power metal. Harmonic guitar solos and riffs, floating and fast but melodic keyboards, pitched vocals followed by chorus backing vocals and galloping rhythm section, filled with lyrics which related to Fantasy topics. If you like AOR music, Italian Drakkar, Swedish Nocturnal Rites, Gamma Ray, present Helloween and Dragonforce in traces, Power Quest should feed your lust for good power metal, even if it isn’t from the Germany . Power metal of these guys is happy, cheerful and light, with compositions that will make you jumping up and down, sing a long to refrains and such things, that recently have been mainly pulled down by entrance of progressive music into the standard power metal style. Production of the album fits into the second part of the 90’s era, but also contains enough of modern production clutches, like in backing vocals arrangements and keyboards sound. Cover-artwork is nice, simple but totally in power metal way designed. Listening to whole material, you’ll surely won’t be disappointed. Songs are streaming easy, and with no problem they can hold listeners to it until the end of the record. From 10 songs, titles like ‘’I Don’t Believe in Friends Forver’’, ‘’Cemetary Gates’’, ‘’The Vigil’’ and the title track are true favorites, but there’s no doubt that you’ll find more of the favorites on this album.
