PEISITHANATOSNYKTAGLIANo Colours Records CDIf depression, mourn and grief worms your heart, then Nyktaglia is the right band for you. Formed in Germany, back in 2001, they’ve released two full-length albums. Seconds is the present one, named ‘’Peisithanatos’. Their music is black metal, raw and grim, filled with screaming and shivering echoing vocals, drum blast beats, roaring-sniveling guitars, followed by acoustic inroads from time to time and twisting and doomy solos. Bass guitar is present but its sound is too much low and quiet, like she’s almost lost in the mix. Besides that, production is averagely good, with clean cuts on guitars and vocals. Drums are little bit muffed, especially when solos came in. Album contains 4 long tracks with very good and quality arrangements, ideas and structures which are followed by constant tempo changes, which is not so procure in today’s raw black metal. Technical skills of musicians are on enviable level, and you can notice that in their thesis within the songs. Influences from the other bands that you can perceive in their expression are much from names like Mayhem (‘’Mysteriis’’…phase), Darkthrone, Nachtmystium and such. Nyktaglia will surely be still in the depths of the metal underground, but they are with no doubts one of the most prolific bands of the genre. Their black metal is just not black metal, it’s art. Prepare, close your eyes, play the album and let your being to be sucked by the world of Nyktaglia, so cold, so dark, so mournfull. Vladimir Petković (9) |
